Sylvie Bérard
 |
Sylvie Bérard was born in
Montreal in 1965. She has a Ph.D. in Literature and teaches at
Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario. She is a regular contributor
to the magazine Lettres québécoises, and
one of the literary editors of XYZ. She has published
several stories in imagine..., Moebius, L'ASFFQ,
Nouvelle Donne, and the Tesseracts anthologies, as well
as many essays and articles on science fiction. With Brigitte
Caron, she co-authored a novel, Elle meurt à la fin
(Paje, 1994), and, with Suzanne Grenier, has translated several
novels by Leona Gom and Nancy Kilpatrick for Alire. Her short
story "La guerre sans temps", Solaris 143, won
the 2002 Boréal Award for best story and, in 2003, the
Canadian Aurora Award for best francophone SF story. In 2005,
her novel, Terre des autres, won the Grand Prix de
la science-fiction et du fantastique québécois,
and the Boréal Award as well as the Prix des lecteurs
Radio-Canada in 2006. |
