Lionel Noël

Lionel Noël was born in Brussels in 1961. He grew up near the Belgian Ardennes, with by a German-speaking grandfather and a French-speaking grandmother who were still marked by their experiences in of the Second World War. Notwithstanding laborious studies completed in a school related to the hotel industry in Spa, which made him a chef, he travelled widely until he settled in Canada. His first novel, Louna, earned him the first Arthur Ellis Award for a Canadian crime novel in French in 2000.
