Francine Pelletier

Photo : Danielle Couture |
Francine Pelletier was born in Laval in 1959.
After studying the teaching of French at the Université
du Québec à Montréal, she published many
science fiction stories, beginning in 1983, first in magazines
then in anthologies and collections. She has published several
novels for young adults, but it is her more conventional works
that have received the most recognition. In 1988, her collection
Le Temps des migrations won the Grand Prix de la science-fiction
et du fantastique québécois award for the story
"La Petite Fille du silence," and then the Boréal
Award for the best book of the year. The second and third volumes
of her SF trilogy Le Sable et l'Acier also won the Grand
Prix de la science-fiction et du fantastique québécois
award in 1999. The second volume of this trilogy, Samiva de
Frée, won the 1999 Boréal Award as well as
the Canadian science fiction Aurora Award. |
