One of the things I like best about Joël Champetier's fiction is that he is usually able to blend various registers quite harmoniously: adventure, scientific information, believable characters; but he also often manages to add what I would call the poetic register, a way of actualizing in his writing the imaginative, and even dreamlike, potential of the elements he sets in place on other levels.
